EVSC Summer Musical Alumni Spotlight

Reitz Alumni of 2002

Meet Paul Keller
"I still carry the love of community with me: I am the current board president of Jackson County Community Theatre in Brownstown Indiana. I have a special interest in our Young Artist program. Theatre helped me become the person I am today and I hope to inspire youth to strive for their best and become better. Whether it's the shy girl who becomes the lead, the struggling boy who finds his place, or the parent who gets to see their child finally making friends. The show is important, but the relationships will change a child for the better.”

Getting to Know Our EVSC Summer Musical Alumni

A Commitment to Supporting the Arts

Where did you go to high school?

I went to Reitz High School.

What is your favorite summer musical memory?

During the Wizard of Oz, I had to be there early since I was the only one who had to have their face hand painted, everyone else was airbrushed. I was the first to show up and after makeup I would usually have 1-2 hours before I had to put on my lion suit. Everyone needed help and I was glad to pitch in. All the girls were wearing headpieces and wigs and they all needed their hair pin curled. It's funny to think of a Lion with makeup and wig, wearing shorts and a t-shirt pin curling hair, but I had a blast connecting with my new friends in the cast!

This year we are doing The Wizard of Oz. Are you Team Glinda or Team Wicked Witch?

I do love a good villain, I'm Team Wicked Witch!

What summer musical production(s) did you participate in?

I participated in two summer musical productions. I was in Wizard of Oz (2001) and Crazy for You (2002).

What roles did you have in those productions?

I was cast as the Lion and Eugene Fodor.

What advice would you give to your high school self?

Don't worry so much about what others think of you. When you let your genuine self out, that is what people will love. When you put on a false face, others can sense it. Dance through life like no one is watching!
