EVSC Summer Musical Alumni Spotlight

Harrison Alumni of 2008

Meet Danny Kopp
"Currently, I am the Technical Director and Facility Manager with the City of Jasper's Art Department.

It would be a dishonor if I didn't mention the time spe EVSC Summer Musical productions did have an impact on me. The best thing I was able to take away was the scale of these productions and how it can translate from start to finish, which is not always seen in a classroom setting."

Getting to Know Our EVSC Summer Musical Alumni

Supporting the Arts: It's a Lifestyle

Where did you go to high school?

I went to Harrison High School and graduated in 2008.

What is your favorite summer musical memory?

My senior year, it wasn't a tap show so knew I'd get a better shot with my audition for Peter Pan. Getting chosen and placed in the cast is not something I ever take for granted. Knowing I would be invited to orientation, included in the rehearsal schedule, and get to experience the performance perspective as a young theatre kid was the ultimate memory for me.

What advice would you give to your high school self?

Continue to listen to the lyrics, continue to hear to the dialogue. This literature will help guide you down the yellow brick road of life no matter how dangerous or unfamiliar it may look.

This year we are doing The Wizard of Oz. Are you Team Glinda or Team Wicked Witch? Who is your favorite character?

TEAM ELPHABA/WICKED WITCH, no question.

My ultimate favorite character would have to be The Scarecrow. Even though he says he has no brains, head of straw, he shares some pretty intelligent things. It's always who we least expect that will surprise us the most.

What summer musical production(s) did you participate in?

I participated in two summer musical productions. I was in 42nd Street (2007) and Peter Pan (2008).

What roles did you have in those productions?

I was cast as general crew & scenic construction in 42nd Street and the pirate ensemble in Peter Pan.

How has your community involvement impacted your personal or professional life?

Having since relocated to a much smaller town with only one high school, my involvement in the community is inevitable. Both professionally and personally I am able to reach out to those in the community if ever needing advice, suggestions, or assistance with advancing on the next step of whatever life has brought me. The same goes for anyone seeking the help that I'd be able to offer back to those in my community! Fortunately for me, my job also provides additional opportunities to provide educational field trips at the theatre I work in, organized events hosted by non-profits helping the community, and not to forget the variety of art we offer at our venues!
