    Supporting the Arts: It's a Lifestyle

    Where did you go to high school?

    I went to North High School and graduated in 2001.

    What is your favorite summer musical memory?

    So many wonderful memories. Friends, laughter, hard work, publicity opportunities, mentors- all of it! We were given many unique opportunities with the Wizard of Oz - Toto auditions at the Vanderburgh Humane Society, singing at various kids' summer programs, Eric Hassler's photography and behind the scenes videography, singing with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, running lines at Barnes & Noble with castmates and friends - the whole production was magical and a dream come true.

    What advice would you give to your high school self?

    I would tell myself that I am brave, I am loving, and I am kind. Don't let striving for perfection and fear of failing get in the way of taking a risk or pursuing your dreams. Some people don't love you or even like you, and that's okay. Create healthy boundaries and don't let the desire to please others take away your joy.

    What summer musical production(s) did you participate in?

    I participated in five summer musical productions. I was in The Music Man, Guys & Dolls, Brigadoon, Wizard of Oz, and Crazy for You.

    What roles did you have in those productions?

    I was cast as Amaryllis (The Music Man), Hot Box Girl (Guys & Dolls), Jean (Brigadoon), Dorothy (Wizard of Oz), and dance assistant/crew (Crazy for You).

    What skills did you learn while participating in the musical that are useful in your current job?

    Currently, my days are spent raising my 3 boys. I taught ballet for 14 years at Jan's School of Dance. I also was an adjunct dance instructor at the University of Evansville for 6 years.

    This year we are doing The Wizard of Oz. Are you Team Glinda or Team Wicked Witch? Who is your favorite character?

    Dorothy is my favorite character because I identify a lot with her, and I'm definitely team Wicked Witch.
