Getting to Know Our EVSC Summer Musical Alumni

Supporting the Arts: Just Keep Dancing

Where did you go to high school?

I went to Signature School for 2 years and Central High School for 2 years, graduating in 2008.

What is your favorite summer musical memory?

Dancing on stage with my peers. Jan was one of my favorite dance instructors that I had growing up. During Peter Pan was probably my favorite year dancing with her.

We (the dance core) had so many inside jokes from rehearsals with Jan that we even had shirts made! 5,6,7...WAIT!

What advice would you give to your high school self?

Enjoy every precious moment of those shows because you never know when it will be your last time on stage.

Are you Team Glinda or Wicked Witch?

Wicked Witch because I think she is totally misunderstood!

What summer musical production(s) did you participate in?

I participated in three summer musical productions. I was in West Side Story, 42nd Street and Peter Pan.

What roles did you have in those productions?

I was in the dance core and was the bird in the ballet in Peter Pan.

How has your community involvement impacted your life?

I went on to study dance at Vincennes University and in 2013 began teaching. As of 2020 I became the owner and director of Expressive Dance Academy 2.0 on Evansville's West Side.

We have a competitive and recreational team, and one of my favorite styles to teach is musical theater. At EDA, we believe that every child deserves the chance to dance!
